The Performance Lab is an advanced analysis athlete experience that helps you understand your body, optimise your training, and track progress with precision.

This service uses industry-leading wearable technology to provide a detailed, data-driven analysis of an athlete’s physical capabilities. The core purpose is to analyse biomechanics and training thresholds. These data-driven insights can then be used to eliminate the training guesswork and create a personalised training guide – preventing injuries & improving performance.

The Science Explained

To truly understand the value of a Performance Lab, it helps to define some key terms:

  • Biomechanical screening: analysing your movement patterns, specific to your sport
  • Aerobic Threshold: This is low to moderate intensity (like a long, steady run) where the body can use oxygen to create energy. This is your foundation for endurance.
  • Anaerobic Threshold: This is higher-intensity (like a HIIT workout / hybrid session) where the body creates energy without sufficient oxygen, leading to things like lactic aid / DOMS. This is your capacity for speed and power.
  • Training Zones: These are the specific intensity levels at which your body switches its primary energy system from aerobic to anaerobic and vice versa. Training effectively requires knowing these precise tipping points.

Who is the Performance Lab For?

Competitive Athletes (Runners, Triathletes, Hyrox/Hybrid): MAXIMIZE your physiological engine and out-train the competition. We pinpoint your optimal intensity zone so every session is max-efficiency. Runners: REFINE YOUR STRIDE and technique for elite efficiency, allowing you to run faster, longer, and reduce injury risk. General Fitness Enthusiasts: OWN YOUR WORKOUT. Ditch the generic programs. Get the personalised data you need to train with absolute certainty, transforming your effort into guaranteed results.

The Technology Driving the Results

The precision of a Performance Lab Assessments relies on state-of-the-art wearables…

RunScribe

RunScribe sensors are attached directly to your shoes and perform detailed gait analysis. The sensors detect precise information about where your foot is throughout the entire gait cycle, measuring metrics like ground contact time, pronation/supination, impact force,

and stride symmetry. This data pinpoints the exact mechanical flaws that can cause injury or hold back speed. Additionally a sacral sensor is attached to the top of your waist band – providing a crucial indicator in running mechanics.

    Train Red

(used in the compete & elite packages)

This device uses light sensors placed on the muscle to non-invasively monitor the oxygen saturation within the muscle tissue. This allows for a real-time, precise determination of your training thresholds (aerobic and anaerobic). Since every sport has different energy demands, learning how your muscle utilises oxygen across different intensity levels is crucial for optimal training.

The Performance Test: The Ramp Test (in the compete & elite packages)

The Ramp Test (performed on a treadmill or bike) is a submaximal test that gradually increases intensity over time while the wearable tech monitors your physiological response. A heart rate monitor is strapped on to accurately record your heart rate which is key to track as the intensity of the test rises.

The ramp test identifies the exact heart rate and pace at which your body transitions between these aerobic and anaerobic working, allowing for the creation of personalised training zones.

Throughout the test the clinician checks in on how you are feeling using Rate of Perceived Exhaustion (RPE). This allows us to assess in real time your response to the increasing intensity. Since it’s a submaximal test you will never work to a 10.

    To Summarise: Invest in Yourself

A Performance Lab is more than just a fitness trend; it’s an investment in your athletic longevity and efficiency. By working with the data from a Performance Lab, you can train smarter, not harder, ensuring every effort drives you closer to your goals while keeping you injury-free.
