Injection Therapy Injection Therapy
Injection Scanning - Great Northern Physiotherapy

Injection Therapy

Injection therapy can be used to settle down pain that has not responded to physiotherapy alone. This can give you the opportunity to engage in full rehabilitation and get back to fitness. When indicated injections of steroid and local anaesthetic can be very effective in reducing joint or soft tissue pain and dysfunction allowing you to fully rehabilitate. Prior to an injection your Physiotherapist will undertake a thorough assessment of your problem, current medications and your past medical history in order to make a judgement of whether or not you would benefit. In addition to steroid injections we also offer injections of sodium hyaluronate. This injection can increase the viscosity of the synovial fluid within the painful joints, this helps to restore its lubricating, shock-absorbing and filtering properties. In addition, it re-establishes the protective coating of hyaluronan over the inner surface of the joint. The result of this can be a reduction in pain and inflammation of the joint’s membrane. At Great Northern Physiotherapy, any of these injections can be delivered with ultrasound guidance making sure the injection is placed exactly where it is needed.

While still receiving treatment, I've gone from walking, to running a 10k with minor discomfort, to a half marathon with no pain, to my fastest 5k since 2012 in just a few weeks He's not only kept me running, he's improved my performance. Highly recommended.

I was consulted and treated by Becky Robinson and I was very pleased with the service and the result. They always greeted me with a smile, and I felt very welcome. Becky is a very good Physiotherapist and made me feel comfortable and relaxed. I always looked forward to go back, and still wished I lived in UK and had neck problems, just so I could have another session there. I definitively recommend them!

Not only that he visually showed me what the issue was and then gave me some exercises to help me recover. Follow up appointment booked and can't wait to see the results. Thanks Phil!
